We

Thursday, December 27th, 2012 - General, Songs

As something sweet and special I’m planning to make a short slideshow video that reviews 2012 with this song in the background. It’s a song I wrote and recorded today called “We” which comprises of some basic maths (You + I = We) and looks at how love and time passing interact and weave through each other. Here are the lyrics:

There was a you and there was an I
At the very start
You drew pictures and gazed at stars
While I played guitar

But seasons fled
Ducked below the sea
And in a year
You and me became we
Time moves on
That’s it’s industry
But you and I
Still stay we

There was a you and there was an I
Trading sticks and sparks
You showed me how to knead bread
While I showed you how to plait lucky charms

And seasons fled
Ducked below the sea
In that year
You and me became we
Time moves on
That’s it’s industry
But you and I
Still stay we

There was a you, there was an I
Many bread rolls past
Reflected in the windscreens of
The traffic streaking past

As seasons fled
Ducked below the sea
In the years since
You and me became we
Time moves on
That’s it’s industry
But you and I
Still stay we
But you and I
Still stay we
